New Export Opportunities by RTP External Partner in Tajikistan
Export opportunities for arranging supplies of products outside of Tajikistan have been viewed as a way of further business expansion for the management of Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory, a supplier of metal products in Tajikistan. RTP External Partner in Tajikistan, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Tajikistan, has been approached by Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory as a professional resource for identifying potential importers of metal products in countries neighboring to Tajikistan.

New Packaging Containers for Tajikistan Fruit & Vegetable Processor
"Technological Center" OJSC, Dushanbe based fruit & vegetable processor, manufacturers 40 types of juices and beverages in glass containers. In their effort to introduce new type of packaging for their products they have contacted Nozim Narzulloev, RTP Trade Specialist in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, seeking assistance in identifying suppliers of packaging equipment for food products, namely Tetra Pack type packaging.

Trade Mission to Canton Fair 2006 led by Regional Trade Promotion Practice Has Provided Opportunities for Improving Manufacturing Facilities of Uzbekistan Furniture Manufacturer
Etiqod Co., a Tashkent based furniture manufacturer, has been selected among all EI clients in Uzbekistan to participate in Trade Mission to Canton Fair 2006 led by Regional Trade Promotion Practice. The reason of Client's decision to participate in the Trade Mission was to identify opportunities to purchase new veneer sheet making machines to be used in their furniture manufacturing line.

Sarinji & Co., an Osh based supplier of paving bitumen (asphalt), contacted RTP seeking assistance in its search for a specific type of bitumen that was to be used in a contract to resurface the Osh-Batken-Isfana Road.

Beer Academy, LLC, an Osh beer company, contacted the RTP component in October 2004 requesting assistance in its search for a supplier of malt.

Trade services take off for RTP partner
SSP Maroqand, is a communications and information technologies firm started by the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce in January 2005. The company became a Regional Trade Promotion partner in February 2004, offering trade services provided by EDP, in particular access to the web-based marketplace smetradecenter.net.

Tajik handicraft maker forges Afghan partnership during recent trade exhibition in Kabul
The Rebuild Afghanistan Trade Fair was held in Afghanistan on 9 - 12 November 2005. Companies from over 30 countries exhibited and there were more than 10,000 visitors in attendance. Enterprise Development Project (EDP) led a delegation of companies from Central Asia that included three Tajik SMEs and the Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Due to our efforts in organizing the Central Asian delegation, EDP was named the exhibition's best supporting partner.

Tajik firm provides furniture for middle school in Afghanistan's Badakshan Region
Doro LLC is a well-known retailer in Dushanbe, Tajikistan that specializes in office equipment and computers, furniture, mobile phones, and other electronic goods. They also own a subsidiary company Art Echo that manufactures school and office furniture. Art Echo has been an EDP client since June 2004 when the completed a Strategic Action Plan with EDC Manager Rahmat Khakulov. Doro's main goal at the Rebuild Afghanistan Trade Fair in Afghanistan on 9 - 12 November 2005 was to promote its Art Echo line of furniture for export.

Osh client becomes competitive in the international market
The Agroelita Manufacturing and Commercial Cooperative was founded in 2004 by a group of entrepreneurs from Osh, Kyrgyzstan, to produce and arrange exports of dried fruits (apples, pears, and prunes), fruit and berry mixes, and dried vegetables grown in South Kyrgyzstan.

Steel Solidifies EDP Trade Partner Revenue Streams
Local RTP partner DMD became a client of Project EDP in March 2004. Awarded a small grant by the project in early 2005, DMD was able to acquire a limited amount of technical equipment to increase the operational capacities of their office premises. In addition, EDP provided a substantial amount of technical assistance to DMD which allowed them to increase their effectiveness as a trade-affiliated service company operating in Turkmenistan.
