May 2006 Uzbek / Kyrgyz cross border deal
Sarinji & Co., an Osh based supplier of paving bitumen (asphalt), contacted RTP seeking assistance in its search for a specific type of bitumen that was to be used in a contract to resurface the Osh-Batken-Isfana Road.
Osh RTP Trade Specialist Atay Almanbetov assisted Sarinji's Director, Azizbek Orozbayev, in identifying and analyzing potential suppliers. And after EDP conducted a rapid market assessment, the company selected the Ferghana Petroleum Processing Plant in Uzbekistan, and following a meeting between the parties a supply contract for 250 tons of bitumen was signed.
It was only seven days after Sarinji's director had initially applied to EDP with a request to find a supplier, that the $73,000 contract was signed. This demonstrates the breadth of RTPs trade network, enabling them to find a supplier and conclude a major deal within a week.
Azizbek Orozbayev, commented, "EDP and specifically RTP proved in practice the promptness and quality of their performance, which helped us conclude a great deal."
