Negotiations pays off for a Kyrgyz fruit puree manufacturer
USAID/Pragma have successfully rescued a complicated trade deal between Jibek-Joly, a Kyrgyz producer of fruit puree, and Kalufruct, the Bulgarian based buyer. Despite the near collapse of negotiations at various stages, USAID/Pragma successfully mediated and held the two sides together to secure a $40,000 order for 269 tons of plum puree from Jibek-Joly, with a letter of intent now signed for a further order worth $500,000.

RTP assisted $2.1 million investment for chemicals producer greatly improves competitiveness
With the help of the USAID Enterprise Development Project Trade Specialist Dmitry Revin, Navoi based chemicals manufacturer, NavoiAzot has completed a $2.1 million purchase of computer hardware equipment, IT implementation and business optimization services which will allow them to vastly improve their internal operations and realize significant cost savings and productivity increases. In addition, other Uzbek businesses are benefiting as suppliers of specific project services.

Fergana silk manufacturer being exporting
Following on from the success we featured last quarter for Sadda, a Ferghana based silk products manufacturer. We are pleased to report a further success for the company, with Enterprise Development Project personnel across two Enterprise Development Centers helping the company make its first export.

Regional Trade Promotion links Tajik Pasta Company with Kazakh Flour Supplier
Sustainable trade relationships between companies in different Central Asia countries have been fraught with many challenges. USAID/Pragma's Regional Trade Promotion service has helped Azim Pasta Company of Dushanbe to tame those challenges in securing a $13,000 deal with Kazakh flour supplier TOO Akbidai. The companies have further agreed on terms for additional orders totaling $120,000 over next 12 months, saving Azim $20,000 on its supply costs.

smetradecenter.net Launches in Turkmenistan
On April 10, 2002 USAID and the Pragma Corporation launched a new service, Regional Trade Promotion, in Turkmenistan. In attendance were the US ambassador to Turkmenistan, USAID executives, representatives of international companies, local training providers and the heads of SME's.
